About

Music releases dopamine in our brains. Dopamine is the feel-good chemical that triggers movement and motivation. In 2017, a study revealed that live music can actually take that experience one step further. Live music not only releases dopamine but it also relaxes us, raises self esteem and confidence, lowers anxiety and can even temporarily ease depression. Thus, AMPT was created.

AMPT stands for Attending Music Performances Together and is a project founded by Graphic Designer and Musician Heather Story. Heather has spent a lifetime surrounded by live music in some shape or form and having researched the extent of it’s effect on a person’s mental wellbeing, she wanted to raise awareness of the mental health benefits that can be reaped from a gig.

At our shows, AMPT will always encourage the awareness of mental health at it’s gigs from raising funds for mental health charities to organising bespoke gigs for the mentally challenged.
